Activity sheet: Collective 5
Main topic
Climate change is a reality and if we do not take action, the planet as we know it today, might not be inhabitable in the foreseeable future. Governments have been planning a transition from fossil fuels to renewable forms of energy.
The transition has already started and coalmines all over the world have been closed down. In some places, they have left behind ghost towns that fall prey to crime, while in others local industries have developed.
For this activity, we want to discuss the role of Trade Unions in creating (green) quality jobs, developing certain sectors, assuring education and skills for new/green jobs
Target Group & duration:
Target: Trade Union leaders and activists.
Duration - 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Objective
Identify and assessing changes and actions (labour transformation) for this vision to come true
Within this vision, reflect on the social responsibility of Trade Unions, in terms of prospective competence and labour transformation as an impact of green transition and digitalisation,
Within this vision, reflect on the values and responsibilities of Trade Unions organisations towards non-members (townspeople, etc).
Within this vision, make a distinction between the different Trade Unions models.
